The Lake County Library System consists of an administrative office, located in Tavares and 15 service outlets. The Lake County Library System Adult Literacy Program is designed to serve limited English proficient adults and adult English language learners who are interested in improving their English skills - conversation, reading, writing, comprehension, and basic math. It is a volunteer-based program which offers one-to-one and small group tutoring to include Conversation Clubs, Citizenship classes, Reading Clubs, and Pre-GED Language Arts & Math classes.

Trained volunteer tutors and adult learners meet at the library and have access to student workbooks; adult literacy materials; a computer-based literacy lab; and other library resources. The adult learner, with the guidance of the tutor, identifies their learning goals and sets the pace to achieving them!

WORKFORCE CENTRAL FLORIDA (WCF) provides the tools that job seekers need to find a job or advance in their career.

The WCF offices and website, www.WorkforceCentralFlorida.com, provide a variety of no-cost employment and training-related services to residents of Orange, Osceola, Seminole, Lake and Sumter counties at no cost.  Services include:

• Job leads, placement services, resume writing assistance, career planning and counseling, training opportunities, information on filing unemployment, veterans programs, information on community resources and agencies, and brochures on how to find a job, keep a job, and other related topics;
•  An online job bank at www.WorkforceCentralFlorida.com;
• Job fairs including virtual and in-office events with area employers;
• Scholarships for training are available to those who qualify when receiving public assistance or after a lay-off; and,
• Resource Rooms that provide no-cost easy access to a variety of employment resources including a fax machine, a copier, telephones, computers, printers, Internet access, basic Microsoft Office software, an online resume building tool, typing software, Choices Assessment (a career interest checklist), job salary comparisons, information on growing industries in Central Florida, self-paced tutorials and training topics such as Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
